Sporadic chronicles of the (previously) super ordinary lives of a young family. There’s something new! I am Liss (in the hopes of being slightly more identifiable in a myriad of Melissas), and I do the writing and morning grumpies. Jene is my partner, and he does the cooking and computer fixing. Devin is our son, and he does the dramatic huffs and funny dancing. Miriam is our daughter, she does the marching to the beat of her own drum.
We used to live in the small university town of Armidale, NSW. (Australia, The World, The Solar System, The Milky Way, The Universe.) Then we moved to my hot, dry hometown of Dubbo to be near my family.
In June 2013 Devin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and we moved into Ronald McDonald House in Westmead, Sydney. You can read about that here. At the time it seemed eternal, and I’m still amazed that I can say so flippantly now, “yeah, he’s all better”. (Apart from the lifetime of monitoring.)
